Thank you for your email dated 7 April to Mayor Johnson enquiring about his travel expenses during his visit to Japan in October 2015, to which I was asked to reply.

Our response to your request is as follows:Between 12 and 16 October 2015, the Mayor visited Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo and Yokohama. During the three day trade mission, he highlighted existing business successes, promoted London's new sectors for growth, and strengthened economic and city-to-city ties between London and Japan.The Mayor was accompanied by six members of GLA staff, and the total cost for the entire delegation was £38,003.22. These include:· All flights: £19,430.36. The Mayor travelled business class. His tickets cost £3,842.46, and the return leg of his trip was redeemed with BA On Business Points.· Total hotel: £5,444.08. The hotels kindly offered the Mayor complimentary room upgrade to a suite; his four nights accommodation cost £689.40.

· All train travel: £1,101.12.

· Two simultaneous interpreters: £4,200.00.

· Vehicle hire for four days: £3,652.31.

· Miscellaneous (Wi-Fi devices, gifts and meals): £964.35.

The Mayor is immensely honoured to have signed the Declaration of Friendship City Relationship with Governor Masuzoe, and had the opportunity to address the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly during his visit.
