青字のところは、今の英文法では項目的に説明できないので、馴染んでいない日本人が多いようです。

熟語(イディオム)で覚えた方は、いるかもしれません。

Ｓ is with you.　という表現は、昨年の３．１１の日本の地震の時にも、世界中の英語で書かれた記事に使われていました。

また、前回の大統領選ですが

“The force is with Obama”, 'Star Wars' creator says.

というような表現もありました。

これは聖書の言葉ですので、英語を使っている人であれば知っている表現のハズなのですが、日本人はあまり知りません。それは、

　　　　　　　　be ＋前置詞句　は第１文型：Ｓ＋Ｖ＋Ｍで、存在を表す　

というような古式ゆかしい説明の英文法が学習内容全体を支配しているせいです。

「概論編」のユニット４で詳しく学習する内容です。

聖書には、この表現がたくさん使われます。

日本語に訳せば「主はあなたと共に」です。

このような「S is 前置詞句」を、「ネイティブな表現」といった言い方をする方が結構います。

けれども、この「ネイティブな表現」は、よく考えてみると人を馬鹿にした表現です。

なぜなら、「普通の英語表現」として学校で文法事項とした習っていれば、こんな言い方は存在すらしないはずです。

これが、日本の英語教育の実体なのです。

このような訳を読んでオバマ大統領の気持ちが伝わってくるでしょうか。
